Girls Tennis tops Towanda, 4-3

The Wellsboro Girls Tennis team evened the season series with Towanda with a 4-3 win on Tuesday, September 8.
Singles Results
Raisa Rogers def. Katie Christian 6-1, 6-2
Mary Fink def. Shyann Foreman 6-4, 6-1
Maddy Clemens def. Megan Paulish 6-1, 6-0
Courtney Bennett def. Taylor Crawford 6-1, 7-6 (7-2)
Olivia Ryan def. Meghan Mendler 6-3, 5-7, 6-4
Doubles Results
Paulish/Bennett def. Emily Starkweather/Faith Kennedy 6-4, 6-1
"The match came down to the 5th singles who split sets and Olivia pulled through a tough battle with her teammates cheering her on," said head coach Jill Gastrock. "The girls played very well on both teams and survived the extremely hot conditions. Towanda is always a great close match and we look forward to seeing them again next week!"
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 4-1 (2-1 NTL). The team will be back in action on Wednesday, September 9 as they travel to Cowanesque Valley.
